Concrete Deck vs. Steel Deck

Concrete Deck vs. Steel Deck

A big decision when buying a truck scale is deciding between a steel deck or concrete deck weighbridge. Both of these weighbridge designs have advantages, they just differ on their application needs.

Concrete Deck

A concrete deck can take longer for installation because it requires 21 to 28 days to completely cure. Our concrete decks require a contractor to visit your site to have concrete poured during installation. The benefit of having concrete poured on site, rather than factory-poured, is there’s no chance of damage during the transportation.

Benefits include:

  • Better traction in wet or icy weather
  • Longer scale life with less maintenance
  • Less friction and wear
  • Better load distribution

Steel Deck

A steel deck has a quicker installation time, with being able to install within one day. A steel deck weighs less, making relocating and expanding much easier. They are also beneficial in wet conditions because they offer better surface traction.

Benefits include:

  • Fast installation
  • Low profiles
  • Easy relocation and expansion
  • Less cost
